about daria

Daria is an animated television series that aired on MTV from 1997 to 2002 and is a spin-off of Beavis and Butt-Head. The show is named for the main character Daria Morgendorffer, portrayed by Tracy Grandstaff, who is a pessimistic teen with little enthusiasm for the vapid life surrounding her.

Daria has a best friend Jane Lane, portrayed by Wendy Hoopes, who is an artist and has the same approach to life, but can be a little more hopeful. Daria has a crush on Jane's brother Trent, portrayed by Alvaro J. Gonzalez, who is a musician and has a laid back approach to life.

Daria has a younger sister Quinn, portrayed by Wendy Hoopes, who is quite the opposite of Daria and hides the fact that they are sisters from her friends. Toward the end of the series, there is some growth and Quinn becomes a much better person and sister.

Daria's parents are Jake and Helen who care very much for their daughters but sometimes become wrapped up in their own activities and commitments. Helen is an attorney and Jake is in advertising. Both can be stressed, but Jake has a traumatic childhood he deals with and works to be different from his own father.

Daria's schoolmates include a wide variety of people including jocks, cheerleaders, overachievers, goths, musicians, artists, and an inappropriate flirting male.

Daria is a strong character, who doesn't shy away from being different from the world she lives in. Although she deals with the insecurities that come along with being a teen, she is still quite fierce and sure of herself.

All of the characters, from students to parents to school faculty, make this show hilarious and entertaining. This is one of the best animated shows that I can rewatch endlessly!
